Starting 2021 Febrary, I start to design a 3D mobile game with a developer in France.
The game is called "Killing Sword" (戒剑), and it is a PvP 3D Unity game for players to use skills to battle with another player or robot on the platform. This project is my first time trying to design UX/UI for a mobile game using Unity 3D. My design focused on game overall experience: game strategy, user setting, onboarding, game setting, and in-game experience.
Design Strategy
For mobile games, considering that most players are right-handed, the devices have comfort-to-reach area and hard-to-reach area depends on their orientation:
For the visual, I decide to largely incorporate Chinese “Taoism” in to the "Killing Sword" mobile game.
Since the audience is mainly for Chinese, the game focused on chinese ancient mysterious culture "Taoism", which signifies the fundamental or true nature of the world - "Nothing in the Universe is fixed, static or non moving; per se everything is transforming all the time."
User Flow
This game don't have any options in game environment and roles/characters. The player use different skills and strategy to win, thus, how to onboarding new user to learn different skill and feel the game playful is the key to the user experience.
